Day 55: so many carbs

This was a food intensive day.

A) Holy hell the Nutella Banana bread is amaze-balls.

B) We got cupcakes from Dia Doce delivered today (I’m saying it’s for Mother’s Day…) and wow. They are also delicious.

Free “contactless” delivery in our area on Fridays. The delivery woman really wanted to contact me – but I was in my pink polar bear PJs (at 1:30) and couldn’t quite make it to the door. Multiple knocks and doorbell rings and a phone call later she left them on the front steps. Whew.

C) We did a family style takeout dinner from Epicurean Garage which included a ridiculous amount of food (pulled pork sandwiches and Caesar salad). The kids went to pick up, marking their second foray out of the house in 2 months.

I am full.

We received an email today from Jack’s future college that says they intend to be on campus and doing live classes when school starts in September. There are many many (so many) unanswered questions in terms of how this is going to work and I think we need to see what happens over the next couple of months before we’ll know if this is real.

But empty nest, here I come… maybe… possibly…

After this I’m going to drag my bloated butt to the treadmill and run (probably walk) 2.23 miles for Ahmoud Arbury. I am so glad that his killers have been arrested but along with everyone else, horrified that today in America people of color are not safe in their own neighborhoods, homes, or just going about their lives. The world is scary as hell, but it shouldn’t be scarier just because of the color of our skin.

I am quite aware that this holds little weight coming from me. But each of us has to speak up in whatever way we can.

Happy weekend, friends.

Hang in there :)
