This post is part of a series inspired by prompts from the book 642 Things to Write About by the San Francisco Writers’ Grotto. If you want to play along, write your own post (on your blog or other online forum) and post a link in the comments. I’ll add “shout-outs” at the end of my post and on the Keep Swimmin’ Facebook page to anyone who shares a link.
The Prompt: #64: Your favorite moment in film.
First let me say, I am no film aficionado. My tastes tends to the rom-com, the high-school-coming-of-age, the John Hughes.
Also, I am not good at favorites. I can’t pick one favorite in a category.
Favorite food? Ice cream…and pizza…and, oh yes, cookies. And…
Favorite color? Green, except when it’s blue.
So. I am already failing at this assignment. But instead of a favorite, let me give you a smattering of favorites. In no particular order.
The Cue Card Scene in Love, Actually
The Boom Box Scene in Say Anything
The Sitting-On-The-Table Scene in 16 Candles
The “This is Just a Practice Kiss to See if You Know What You Are Doing” Scene in Some Kind of Wonderful
The Dad-Dressed-as-an-Aardvark Scene in Better Off Dead
You thought there was a whole unrequited love thing going there, and then I threw a man dressed as an aardvark at you. That is exactly why it makes the list. There is no category for that one. Very few parents-dressed-as-animals, at least that I am aware of.
Maybe that one IS my favorite.
Or one of the other ones…I could do this all day…
What is YOUR favorite movie scene?
“aaah, Juicy Fruit.” from One Flew Over the Cuckoos Next.
